It’s been about 7 months since the latest instalment in the Gran Turismo series, Gran Turismo: Sport, but fans are all hoping that the long-awaited Gran Turismo 7 is somewhere in the near future. A post on NeoGaf today suggests that an announcement may be just around the corner…

A post on NeoGaf by user Byrank75 entitled “Gran Turismo 7 is coming…” reveals that during a visit to their local GameStop they came across promotional boxes for the as of yet unannounced game. Stating that they found “…promotional boxes for GT7 and details including an April 2019 release and collectors edition featuring a real, wearable racing helmet.” The collector’s edition information seems to have come from an employee at the store but according to Byrank75 it was “stated as fact.” The user uploaded an image of the supposed promotional boxes in an effort to add credibility to their claim, although some other users have commented that the image used on the box art is a fan made concept art for the game from 3 years ago…

Although this is somewhat suspicious, the rest of the games featured in the image have all been announced and it is more than possible that somebody at the store used downloaded box art in order to fill the promotional box.

At this point, we’ll have to take this claim with a pinch of salt, but it’s been a long wait for GT 7 and an E3 announcement would be a strong move for Sony.

We’ve reached out to GameStop for comment on this claim.
