Yup, they’ve done it again. At the risk of over-saturating the market, Marvel/Disney has announced “Phase 3”, the movies in it and their release dates, to the joy of graphic novel enthusiasts everywhere. Maybe that great film will come out of this next batch.

The roster includes their first hero of colour (Black Panther) and their first female hero (Captain Marvel).

Following the Avengers: Age of Ultron and the end of “Phase 2”, Marvel will roll out:

Captain America: Civil War (May 6th 2016)

Doctor Strange (November 4th 2016)

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (May 5th 2017)

Thor: Ragnarok (July 29th 2017)

Black Panther (November 3rd 2017)

Captain Marvel (July 6th 2018),

The Inhumans (November 2nd 2018), and

Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and 2 (May 2018 and 2019)

As well as announcing the films, they unveiled the new Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman.

Having played Jackie Robinson and James Brown before, I’m sure he has the necessary range enabling him to transition from playing real life musicians to a vaguely ridiculous superhero.

They also gave us a trailer for a film four years in the future, the ridiculousness of that mitigated by this first look at Thanos.

Marvel haven’t followed DC’s lead, they’ve stalked them in the shadows before leaping on their back, garrotting them then stealing their spotlight.

All jokes aside, I do foresee some problems…

Like how will Thor: Ragnarok pull off er, Ragnarok? (“Verily, meet my brother who you’ve never encountered before this da… *stabbing noise* DAMMIT LOKI, YOU KILLED HIM BEFORE ANYONE CARED”)

Where does Ant Man even fits into all this? (how could you forget Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas? It’s gonna be gold)

Why is there no Black Widow or Hulk movie? (WORLD WAR HULK GET IN MAH BELLY)

And is Captain America: Civil War coming before too soon? Will a finite amount of Avengers be enough to bring the sheer gravitas of my favourite comic to the big screen?

Along with the “patron saint of Tumblr” Benedict Cumberbatch due to be announced as Doctor Strange any day now, it’s looking pretty good to be a Marvel fan who goes to the movies.

It’s almost like… Disneyland.
