As promised, the third and latest trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 hit today (see below). It’s a much longer glimpse at the game and gives us a bit more information on the story around Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang. It seems the time of wild west is drawing to a close and the hunters are now becoming the hunted.

On the Rockstar Games website, the trailer was coupled with a short description which gives us a little more context about when the game takes place as well as our characters motivations.

“America, 1899. The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed.

After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.”

If you look carefully, you may also get a glance of John Marston, the protagonist from the first game. All be it a brief shot, it seems like this confirms he will play a role in this game of some sort.

The game releases on PS4, Xbox One on October 26th.
