Activision finally announced today that our favourite purple dragon will be coming to PS4 and Xbox One this September 21st in Spyro Reignited Trilogy.

In a press release and accompanying trailer (see below) Activision revealed that the Spyro Reignited Trilogy will feature fully remastered versions of Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. Lead developer Toys for Bob have fully rebuilt each game from the ground up remaining faithfully to the map layouts whilst also adding some creative flair to everybody’s favourite characters. Alongside this, we will also see  “improved environments, updated controls, brand-new lighting and recreated cinematics for added flavour in this one-of-a-kind adventure.”

Fans of Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon won’t be disappointed as voice actor Tom Kenny returns to be the voice of Spyro for the trilogy and we will also hear a “re-imagining” of Stewart Copeland’s original soundtracks.

The game releases on PS4 and Xbox One on September 21st, just in time for the 20th anniversary of the original game. To kick off the celebrations, owners of Crash Bandicoot ‘N’ Sane Trilogy will be able to view a trailer for the game by entering the code (↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → square) into the title screen of Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped from Monday 9th April.
